AUTHOR: Dr. Henrik Totterman is the President of LEADX3M, an international entrepreneurial leader and global business school executive, with 20 years of experience developing his own ventures and advising others. Henrik's background enables him to combine academic concepts with the real world of business, exemplified by the work he is doing to assist in renewing and building new business for organizations internationally. Henrik is a doctor in entrepreneurship and management from Hanken School of Economics, a Professor of Practice at Hult International Business School, and a teaching faculty member at Harvard University Division of Continued Education.

The management program capstone, Entrepreneurship in Action, offers you the experience of consulting for a real-world organization to present them with a carefully designed and well-researched solution to a current problem or question. Depending on the client assignment, your deliverable may take on many forms, including a project, analysis paper, or business plan.
You complete the capstone work in a classroom setting with fellow degree candidates, all of whom are working toward the same goal. The project is faculty directed in that there is a structured syllabus and a similar final project for all students. Registration for the capstone is the same as a course, however you must pay close attention to prerequisites and course sequencing.
The capstone builds on previous insights by focusing on key competencies learned throughout the program on how to execute entrepreneurial management in a modern company setting. Entrepreneurial management, as compared to corporate management, is the guiding model. The focus will be on flexibility, innovation, resource management, and responsiveness when starting and operating high growth potential ventures.
By learning the underlying method, you'll gain an understanding of the challenges in the entrepreneurial process including: (1) the ability to solve heterogeneous problems with speed, (2) drive profit through adaptation and agility, and (3) conserve resources while keeping people engaged in times of continuous transformation. Upon completion of the capstone course, you will have analyzed a corporate challenge and presented your solutions to a corporate partner.
The Management capstone track is divided into three distinct stages:
First, On-Campus Course (Summer 2019)
After admission and completing at least organizational behavior, economics, accounting, and finance online, you'll come to campus during the summer to complete an intensive, three-week course such as, marketing, enterprise management, or a management elective.
Second, Precapstone (Spring 2020)
The following spring term, after you have completed the seven core courses, you complete the online precapstone, which is a comprehensive introduction to the underlying dynamics of entrepreneurial business.
Third, Capstone (Summer 2020)
After completing at least all seven core requirements and the precapstone, you’ll come to campus during the summer to complete the three-week capstone. The capstone, MGMT S-599 Entrepreneurship in Action, is completed as your second and final on-campus course, and must be completed right after the spring precapstone. Under no circumstances can you complete the precapstone, and then complete the capstone a year or two later. Note that the capstone is only offered during the first three-week summer term.
While not required, we recommend that you take the capstone at the end of your degree program in order for you to draw upon your entire ALM training to produce your final capstone project. Due to the heavy demands of the capstone, this course is considered full time and you cannot be registered in any other course concurrently.
If you finish your degree with the capstone during the summer, you will graduate in November, allowing you to participate in the May Commencement ceremony the following year.
The objective of the capstone is to solve practical real-life leadership challenges provide by a client.
